Pergola & Patio Build
A heavy-timber pergola anchored against the back of a contemporary Denver home — built over an existing paver patio to create a true outdoor living room. Posts, beams, and rafters all framed on site by hand.
The owners wanted a real outdoor room — not a pop-up canopy. We built a heavy-timber pergola anchored to the back of the home, sized to cover the existing paver patio, with posts heavy enough to read as architecture rather than accessory.
What we did
- Heavy-timber posts set on engineered post bases
- Cross-beams and rafters cut, notched, and dropped in on site
- Ledger anchored to the existing structure
- Stained to a warm natural finish, sealed for Colorado weather
- Designed to be wired for future overhead lighting and a ceiling fan tie-in
Notes
This is the kind of outdoor-living project that turns a back yard from “place we walk through” into “place we live in.” It’s also one of the fastest-turnaround projects we do — 3 to 5 weeks for the build itself once permits clear.
